MAAP (Model Adult Automotive Pathway)
MAAP in a non-credit program offered at NOVA and Germanna Community Colleges, providing adults an introduction to the automotive service career pathway through basic skills training and immediate entry-level employment. Participants are initially hired as General Service Technicians by Tire Kingdom, with a starting average pay from $10-$13 per hour. No previous automotive experience is required or necessary.
The basic skills training is five weeks long and meets twice a week. After the second week of the course, qualified participants begin working at their respective locations. A minimum of 16 hours a week is required, however, participants may work up to 40 hours a week (anything above 30 hours a week is considered full-time). MAAP features cooperative education with the course instructor following student progress at work.
After completing the program, successful participants will receive a MAAP Certificate of Completion, Career Readiness Certificate, Tire Kingdom “BATS” Certification and S/P2 (safety) Certification. Employment with Tire Kingdom does not end once the course is completed; course participants are encouraged to continue working. MAAP graduates will become eligible for normal company benefits after 90 days of full-time employment.
MAAP provides adults with an entry-level introduction to the automotive service industry. However, MAAP’s purpose is to promote career development within the automotive service pathway. Graduates are encouraged to take advantage of Tire Kingdom opportunities for company training, as well as credit automotive courses at NOVA and Germanna which can lead to industry certification and career advancement.
