SPA 272 - INTRODUCTION TO LATIN AMERICAN CIVILIZATION AND LITERATURE II (3 CR.)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Introduces the student to Latin American culture and literature through reading and discussing selected texts in the Spanish language. Lecture 3 hours per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
To further develop language (communication) skills through reading and discussing texts in Spanish and to acquaint the student with selected culturally significant texts and literary works representative of Latin American countries.
ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCY
The prerequisite for this course is SPA 202 – "Intermediate Spanish II" or equivalent.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The student will improve proficiency in the Spanish language while acquiring knowledge of selected cultural and literary texts representative of the works and culture of Latin America.
MAJOR TOPICS TO BE COVERED
The thought and cultural achievements of the Latin American civilization as shown by selected literary and other texts.
