SPA 211-212 - INTERMEDIATE
CONVERSATION IN SPANISH I-II (3 CR.) (3 CR.)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Continues to develop
fluency through emphasis on idioms and other complex sentence structures.
Lecture 3 hours per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
This course provides
further practice for face-to-face conversations in informal and formal
settings, and for transactional situations handling most survival situations
in which a complication has arisen while traveling, residing for a short
time, or "living off of the economy" in a Hispanic culture.
ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCIES
The prerequisite for
this course is SPA 202 - "Intermediate Spanish Conversation II" or equivalent.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of
this course, the student should be able to:

maintain a conversation
coping with more complicated situations or unforeseen circumstances

narrate and describe in
present, past, and future time frames

carry on a conversation
on a wide range of concrete topics

sustain ideas using paragraph
discourse; his/her speech includes some sensitivity to register, to the
appropriateness of certain expressions in a given context, and an ability
to use cohesive devices to unify discourse.
