COURSE DESCRIPTION
Introduces the basic
skills, strategy, and scoring techniques necessary to perform in a game
situation. Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 1 hour. Total 2 hours
per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
Introduces the proper
techniques, skills, strategy, rules, and scoring needed to play and enjoy
the game of volleyball.
Upon completion of
this course the student will be able to:
A. understand the
history of volleyball.
B. understand the
basic skills of serving, passing, blocking, setting, and spiking.
C. demonstrate a knowledge
of the rules, and scoring in volleyball.
D. understand game
strategy and team play.
MAJOR ELEMENTS OF CONTENT
A. Demonstrate the
following skills: serve, forearm pass, set, overhead pass, dig, block and
spike.
B. Demonstrate a knowledge
of scoring, rules and terminology
C. Development of
strategy in various playing positions
D. Tournament play
