PED 129 - SELF
DEFENSE (1 CR.)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Examines history, techniques
and movements associated with self-defense. Introduces the skills and methods
of self-defense emphasizing mental and physical discipline. Lecture 1 hour.
Laboratory 1 hour. Total 2 hours per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
The purpose of this
lifestyle activity is to provide an introduction to self-defense through
basic skills, conditioning, and knowledge.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of
this course the student will be able to:
A. demonstrate terminology
of self-defense.
B. develop proper
form in techniques of punching, kicking, and defense positions.
C. demonstrate safety.
D. develop a higher
level of physical fitness and specific training exercises.

A. Basic punches,
blocks, kicking and combinations
B. Knowledge of language
and history of sport
C. Clothing and equipment
D. Comprehensive exercises
E. Vigorous conditioning
