PED 109 - YOGA (1 CR.)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Uses hatha Yoga postures and breathing techniques to improve flexibility, stamina, and strength; to combat stress; and promote relaxation. Focuses on the forms of yoga training emphasizing flexibility and strength. Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 1 hour. Total 2 hours per week.

GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE

To give the student knowledge of skeletal muscle system and knowledge and experience in yoga exercises to strengthen, stretch, and relax these muscles.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

    A. understand the concepts of yoga
    B. perform exercises to strengthen skeletal muscles
    C. perform exercises to stretch skeletal muscles
    D. relax skeletal muscles
