GER 111 - CONVERSATION IN GERMAN I (3 CR.)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Emphasizes the spoken language, stressing fluency and correctness of structure, pronunciation and vocabulary.  Lecture 3 hours per week.

GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE

This course provides practice in speaking German, with emphasis upon developing fluency, increasing vocabulary and improving sentence structure.

ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCIES

German 102 or equivalent

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course students should be able to initiate, sustain and close conversations in a wide range of circumstances and covering a variety of topics.

MAJOR TOPICS TO BE INCLUDED

Everyday situations which may include:

    1. Introductions
    2. Asking for directions
    3. Making purchases
    4. Using the telephone
    5. Ordering a meal
