ART 277 - ADVANCED PRINTMAKING (4 CR.)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Provides additional opportunity for individual exploration in selected printmaking processes. Lecture 2 hours per week. Studio instruction 4 hours per week. Total 6 hours per week.

GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE

To allow the student to further develop technical and stylistic mastery of one of more printmaking processes. The course is one of the second year electives in the Fine Art transfer AA degree program.

ENTRY-LEVEL COMPETENCIES

The prerequisites for this course are ART 275 - "Relief Printmaking", ART - 258 - "Lithography", and ART 223 - Watercolor I".

Working knowledge of at least one printmaking process.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The student will be expected to experiment with new and advanced techniques and approaches in the particular printmaking medium that he/she chooses to work in. Development of technical mastery in printing editions is expected.

    1. Experimentation with new techniques, tools, and/or processes
    2. Consistency and quality in edition printing
    3. Development of stylistic consistency of images
    4. Development of presentation quality portfolio of prints
