COURSE DESCRIPTION
Introduces lithographic processes and techniques with emphasis on stone lithography. Includes field trips where applicable. Lecture 2 hours per week. Studio instruction 4 hours per week. Total 6 hours per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
To introduce the student to the processes, tools, and materials of lithographic printing, and the care and display of prints. The course is one of the second year electives in the Fine Arts transfer and AA degree program.
ENTRY-LEVEL COMPETENCIES
The prerequisites for this course are ART 121 - "Drawing I" and ART 131 - "Fundamentals of Design I" or divisional permission.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, the student will be expected to demonstrate ability to use the press, chemicals, and tools in lithographic processes, while producing several editions of lithographic prints. The student will properly sign and present finished prints.
