Surveys Italian art from Cimabue to Canaletto. Includes sculpture, painting, and architecture. Lecture 3 hours per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
Provides the art student major and the student from other curricula a comprehensive survey of Italian sculpture, painting, and architecture from the thirteenth to the seventeenth century. The sequence is designed for A.A. candidates and those planning to transfer to a bachelor's program.
ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCIES
Prerequisites are ART 101-102 - "History and Appreciation of Art I-II".
The Italian Art sequence provides the student with knowledge of regional and historical developments of major art forms and the ability to analyze and understand works of art on the basis of political, social, technical and aesthetic preferences.
MAJOR TOPICS TO BE COVERED
ART 213 (first semester) will cover the period from the thirteenth century through the fifteenth century.
