ADJ 229 - LAW ENFORCEMENT AND THE COMMUNITY (3 CR.)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Considers current efforts undertaken by law enforcement personnel to achieve an effective working relationship with the community. Surveys and analyzes various interactive approaches of agencies and the citizenry they serve. Lecture 3 hours per week.

GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE

The purpose of this course is to provide the student with an introduction to current concepts, practices and methods in the field of law enforcement and community relations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

    A. gain an insight into some of the problems facing successful law enforcement community relations efforts

    B. recognize the role that perceptions, beliefs, attitudes and values play in this effort
