COURSE DESCRIPTION
Presents an overview of the United States criminal justice system; introduces the major system components: law enforcement, judiciary and corrections. Lecture 3 hours per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
The purpose of this course is to provide the student with an overview of the coordination and interdependency of the major elements in the criminal justice system and provide insights to career opportunities available.

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
B. create an awareness of the challenges of the law enforcement, judiciary and corrections elements in today's dynamic societal environment
C. examine the variety of career opportunities available in the criminal justice system
B. Organization of police agencies, court systems, and correctional facilities
C. Career opportunities in the criminal justice system
D. Current issues in managing criminal justice agencies
E. Issues in the future to be addressed by criminal justice agencies
F. The interdependency between the law enforcement, judiciary, and corrections elements of the criminal justice system
