PED 150 - SOCCER (1 CR.)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Introduces soccer skills, techniques, terminology, team play strategy, rules, equipment and safety. Lecture 1 hour.  Laboratory 1 hour.  Total 2 hours per week.

GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE

To introduce basic soccer skills, play, and rules.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

A. understand history and terminology of soccer.
B. understand individual and team skills and strategy needed in soccer.
C. develop higher levels of fitness.
D. demonstrate individual drills.

A. Kicking (instep, side of foot)
B. Trapping (foot, chest)
C. Heading
D. Goal keeping
E. Throw-in
F. Dribbling
G. Tackling
