LAT 201-202 - INTERMEDIATE
LATIN I-II (3 CR.) (3 CR.)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Introduces the reading of classical Latin with a review of Latin grammar, forms, and syntax. Lecture 3 hours per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
The purpose of intermediate Latin is to enable the student to read the classical literature of antiquity and the Latin writings of later times.
ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCIES
LAT 101-102 - "Elementary Latin I-II" are the prerequisites or successful completion of two years of high school Latin or one year college Latin and division permission.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Language objectives at this level aim to lead the student away from elementary structural drills and towards a freer, more personal use of the basic skills of reading and some writing.
MAJOR TOPICS TO BE COVERED
Readings of longer selections as Virgil's Aeneid or Augustine's Confessions.
