AIR 238 - ADVANCED TROUBLESHOOTING AND SERVICE (3 CR.)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Covers an in-depth study of troubleshooting and repair of all equipment in the program. It will cover refrigeration, air conditioning, gas and oil heating, water chillers, water towers, air handlers, and air systems. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

As a result of the learning experiences provided in the course, the student will be able to:

  1. use the various techniques learned to diagnose service problems more quickly
  2. make better decisions concerning repairs
  3. make repairs to various types of water pumps
  4. service compressors faster
  5. analyze air movement and blower problems and make repairs
  6. service and install commercial refrigeration units and cases
  7. service and repair ice machines
  8. install, repair, and service humidification equipment
  9. check and repair low and high voltage control circuits
