Successful NOVA Graduates Who Have Transferred
Geoffrey Kamau with AN Provost, Dr. Saperstone
and Dean of Students, Dr. Thrash
I'm Geoffrey Kamau and I am an international student from Kenya. I attended NOVA Annandale Campus and graduated with an Associate of Science Degree in general studies. I then transferred to Marymount University to pursue my bachelor's degree in nursing.
Studying abroad is very challenging because everything is new and different. The transfer process from NOVA to a four-year college seemed like it would be stressful and complicated for me, and I anticipated another culture shock.
However, the process turned out to be very smooth and straightforward. While at NOVA I always contacted my adviser and counselors every semester before signing up for classes. With their guidance, the classes I signed up for were classes that could transfer towards my major at Marymount.
Luckily, Marymount happens to have an articulation program with NOVA, so all my credits transferred and I started school as a junior. NOVA prepared me and gave me a solid foundation that propelled me in pursuing my dream of being a nurse. I am expecting to graduate in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing.
Thanks,
Geoffrey Kamau
