How Leaders Talk
Leaders always have the microphone.
To talk, the leader can either hold the Ctrl key or click and hold the Talk icon.

Because leader's usually talk for extended periods of time. In order to save their mousing hands, eMEETING also has a Lock to Talk button. Instead of holding the CTRL key for a long time, click the Lock to Talk button. Everything you say will be broadcast to participants while Lock to Talk is engaged, so be careful!
How to Give Others the Microphone
Grant the Microphone to a Raised Hand
To grant the microphone to the next participant with a raised hand, click the Next button.

Grant the Microphone to Everyone
To grant the microphone to everyone, click the microphone at the top of the participants list.
Clear/Grant the Microphone and Markup Tools
- Right-click the recipient's name in the participants' list.
- Choose Grant Microphone and Markup Tools. If the recipient already has the microphone, the menu will list Clear Microphone/Markup Tools.
- If the participant does not have the microphone, the menu will list Grant Microphone/Markup Tools.

How to Take the Microphone Away
Take the Microphone Away From Everyone
To take the microphone away from everyone, click the clear microphones button at the top of the participants list.
Take Away the Microphone and Markup Tools from a Participant
Right-click the recipient's name in the participants' list. Choose Take Away Microphone and Markup Tools.

Text Chat
In adduction to communicating by voice, you can also send text messages to other participants. Depending on how the leader of the meeting has set up the text chat, participants may be able to:
- Send public messages to all the participants in the meeting, including the leader
- Send private messages to the leaders of the meeting
- Send private messages to other participants
Open The Text Chat Box
- To open the text chat, click the Text Chat button on the toolbar.

- The text chat window will open.
- The text chat will be displayed in the main window.

Send a Text Message
- From the drop-down menu, choose the recipient(s) of your message.
- Enter your message enter your message into the message box.
- Click Send. Your message will appear in the discussing window.
Move the Text Chat Box
You can move the text chat box around your screen by clicking on the blue bar at the top of the box and dragging it wherever you want to place it.
Print the Text Chat Transcript
You can print the text chat by clicking the print button. ![]()
Save the Text Chat Transcript
You can save the text chat by clicking the save button. ![]()
Set Text Chat Options
- Click on the options button.

- The options box will appear.
- Place a check mark next to the privileges that you would like your participants to have.
- Select a color for each type of message: public messages, private messages and read messages.

Feedback
Leaders can solicit feedback from participants or participants can send unsolicited feedback to their leaders. The feedback option includes a few of the most common types of feedback: Done, OK, Not clear, Too fast, and Too slow.
How Participants Send Feedback:
Participants click on the Feedback button on the toolbar.

Participants select the feedback they wish to send and click Send.

How Leaders View Feedback:
If a participant has sent a leader feedback, the feedback button on the leader's toolbar will turn yellow:

- To view feedback, click the feedback button.
- Leaders see aggregated feedback data:

Surveys
Leaders also have the option of polling participants using the Survey tool.
- Click the Survey button.

- Click the New Survey button.
Several commonly used surveys are pre-loaded into the Select A survey box. If you have already used a survey in the session, it will be listed in the Select a Survey box too. You can choose an existing survey, edit an existing survey or click the New Survey button to create a new survey.

- Type in the text of the Survey Question and the possible answers from which you would like participants to choose.

- Participants will see a screen something like this:

- Leaders see the survey feedback in their screen:

Raised Hands
Clear A Raised Hand
When a participant raises his or her hand, the hand will appear next to his or her name in the participant's pane. To give the microphone to the next raised hand, click the Next button.

Clearing Raised Hands
It is important to remember to clear the Yes/No answers from the participant's panel. You can also clear the raised hands and microphones from the participants list by clicking on the corresponding clear buttons:

Yes/No Questions
When you ask a Yes or No question, your students can respond by clicking either the Green Check for Yes or the Red Ex for No. Their answers will be shown next to their names in the Participants panel. Remember to clear their answers by clicking the Clear Yes/No Answers button.

Eject a Participant
If a participant is not being cooperative, you can forcefully eject him or her. To eject a participant, right-click on the person's name in the participants panel and choose Eject Participant.

Promote a Participant to Co-Presenter
To promote a participant, right-click the participant's name in the participants panel and choose Promote to Co-Presenter.

You may also choose to give your Co-Presenter App share privileges so that the Co-Presenter can share his/her screen with participants. To grant App share privileges, right click the Co-Presenter's name again and choose Give (name) App share Privileges.
A participant who has been promoted will see a screen that includes some, but not all, of the same icons as the Leader's screen.
Demote a Co-Presenter to Participant
To demote a Co-Presenter, right-click the Co-Presenter's name and choose Demote Co-Presenter.
Invite Attendees During A Meeting
- Go to the Actions menu.
- Choose Invite by Email.

- Enter the recipient's email address.
- Enter the message text, if desired.
- Click OK.
