Windows XP and Service Pack 2
There are some technical issues affecting the use of eMEETING with Windows XP and Service Pack 2. If you have Windows XP with Service Pack 2, and you are having trouble using eMEETING, try the following fixes.
Step 1: Disable the Pop-Up Blocker
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Go to the Tools menu.
- Choose Pop-Up Blocker.
- If the menu lists Turn Off Pop-Up Blocker, choose Turn Off Pop-Up Blocker.
- If the menu lists Turn On Pop-Up Blocker, then your Pop-Up Blocker is turned off.
Step 2: Configuring ActiveX Control Settings
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Click the Tools menu at the top of the window.
- Click the Internet Options item in the Tools menu.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click the Custom Level button.
- Change Automatic Prompting for ActiveX Controls to enable.
- Optional for simplicity: Change Download Signed ActiveX Controls to enable.
- Click OK.
- Click Yes.
- Click OK.
Step 3: Configuring the Windows Firewall to allow Centra Traffic
The Centra Client must already be present to perform these steps.
- Click Start.
- XP Interface: click Control Panel.
- Windows Classic Interface: Click Settings , then click Control Panel.
- Click Add or Remove Programs.
- A list of programs will be visible in alphabetical order. Look for an entry that reads Centra One . If it is present continue with this list of instructions. If it is not present try to run the Centra System Check or contact the session leader to get the URL for the manual installation file for the Centra server to be used.
- Click OK.
- In the Control Panel screen click Windows Firewall in the Windows Security Center section.
- Click the Exceptions tab.
- Click Add a Program. A new window titled Add a Program will appear.
- Click Browse. A new window for file selection will appear.
- Click the My Computer button on the left side of the new window.
- Double-Click the icon for the C Drive. This will usually appear with a name like Local Disk or a name that includes the brand name of the PC, followed by (C:).
- Double-click the icon for the Program Files folder.
- Double-click the icon for the Centra One folder.
- Double-click the icon for the bin folder.
- Double-click the icon for the launcher.exe file (may appear as launcher). That window will close leaving the Add a Program window visible.
- Double-Click the entry for launcher.exe (may appear is launcher). That window will close leaving the Windows Firewall window visible and set to the Exceptions tab.
- Click OK.
- Click the X at the top-right corner to close the Control Panel window.
