Troubleshooting
Question 1: Have you performed a System Check?
It is possible that the Centra client program has not been installed on your computer. If the client has not been installed, the System Check will identify the problem and prompt you to download the client. Click here for directions to the System Check.
When you perform the System Check, does it return any kind of error message? If so, write down the error message. If you are unable to resolve the problem on your own, the error message will help us identify the problem.
Question 2: What operating system are you using?
eMEETING does not work on a MAC.
There are known issues affecting the use of eMEETING with Windows XP and Service Pack 2. These issues can usually be resolved but it requires disabling some of the security features in Windows XP. If you are using Windows XP, you may need to perform the steps outlined in Step 3.
How do I know what operating system I am using?
- Right-click on My Computer.
- Choose Properties.
- Verify that the General tab is selected.
- Your operating system is listed on the right side of the box.

Question 4: Do you have any security firewalls or anti-spyware software installed?
You might not be able to run eMEETING if you have installed additional security software on your computer. Many types of firewalls and anti-spyware programs recognize eMeeting as a security threat and block it. Resolving these kinds of software conflicts depends on the individual computer and what is installed on it. Check the instructions for the security software for information on how to unblock eMEETING.
Question 5: Is your browser up to date?
When was the last time you updated your system? If your computer is not set to update automatically and you can't remember the last time you updated your operating system and browser, try updating. You should update both your Operating System and your internet browser regularly.
To Update Windows Operating Systems:
- Go to:http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
- Click Express Install.
- Install the updates recommended for your computer. When you are finished, check for updates again. You may have to go through several rounds of updates before your computer is fully up to date.
To Update Office and Internet Explorer:
- Go to: http://office.microsoft.com.
- Click Check for Updates.
- Click Check for Updates again.
- Install any required updates. (You may be prompted to insert your Microsoft Office CD. If you do not have or can't find your CD, it may be possible to install just those pieces of the update that do not require the Office CD.)
