Health Notice

April 8, 2011

Northern Virginia Community College recently learned that an individual at the Annandale Campus has been diagnosed with a case of pulmonary tuberculosis, commonly known as TB. The individual is not currently attending school and is receiving treatment.

In cooperation with the Fairfax County Health Department, the College is identifying people who may have had prolonged interaction with the individual, and the Health Department will be sending a letter to those individuals.

To learn more about tuberculosis, read the information provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The good news is that not everyone who is exposed becomes infected and people who do develop the disease can be treated.
