Announcement: Military Honor Cords for 2014 Commencement Ceremony

Northern Virginia Community College is pleased to continue its symbolic initiative of honoring our graduating active duty military and veteran students. Red, white and blue honor cords WILL be available for graduating active duty, guard/reserve or veteran students interested in wearing them during the commencement ceremony on May 18th. The cords signify the appreciation that NOVA feels toward our military and veteran students for their distinguished service and sacrifice.

Those military and veteran students who are interested in allowing NOVA to honor your service with a Military and Veteran Honor Cord can pick up a cord at any campus Veteran Advisor office or military installations Fort Myer, Fort Belvoir Henderson Hall and Quantico on April 12th - May 10th. If you have questions contact the Office of Military Services at

NOVA's Office of Military Service helps all members of the military community -- active duty, veterans and family members -- achieve their educational and career goals. We can help you navigate the admission process, troubleshoot payment issues, and connect you with college and community resources.

NOVA was named a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs magazine in 2013.

If you are a military affiliated student, our office is here to serve you. Please contact the Office of Military Services at or call 703.293.8132.
