Purpose: The career studies certificate in Phlebotomy is designed to prepare personnel who collect and process blood and other samples for medical laboratory analysis. Phlebotomists work in hospitals, medical clinics, commercial laboratories and in other settings where blood is collected from patients. The curriculum includes learning experiences in both on-campus laboratories and affiliated clinical laboratories.
Admission Requirements:
1. Attendance at Phlebotomy Information Session. (This satisfies the "Interview with Program Head" requirement.)
2. NVCC application on file with Annandale as home campus.
3. Qualifies for or has completed ENG III.
Advanced Standing: Persons who have been certified by a national agency as a phlebotomist or who have extensive experience in phlebotomy may seek advanced standing for MDL 190 (Coordinated Practice in Phlebotomy).
