Purpose: The curriculum is designed primarily for students who wish to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete the baccalaureate degree in Computer Science. The curriculum emphasizes the study of the science of computing and the use of computing in a scientific setting.
Recommended Preparation: Satisfactory completion of the following high school units or equivalent: 4 units of English and 4 units of college preparatory mathematics.

Total minimum credits for the Computer Science major (A.S. degree) = 60.
(1) Social science courses may be selected from the following: economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, or sociology (includes anthropology). All electives should be selected in conjunction with an advisor and after examining the requirements at the transfer institution.
(2) The PED requirement may be met by one of the following options: PED 116, 2 cr.; PED 116, 1 cr. plus a PED activities course, 1 cr.; or PED 116, 1 cr. plus RPK 205, 207, 208, 216, or 225. PED 116 is offered as both a 1-credit and a 2-credit course.
(3) Natural science with laboratory numbered 100 or above may be chosen from BIO, CHM (except 101-102), PHY (101 or above), or GOL.
(4) General elective should be selected in conjunction with an advisor and after examining the requirements at the transfer institution.
(5) Humanities/fine arts elective should be selected in conjunction with an advisor and after examining the requirements at the transfer institution.
