I am very proud to say that both our full-time and adjunct faculty have an average of over 25 years each working in the HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration). This depth of field experience translates to an emphasis on "hands-on" experience for our students in the lab, which follows an equal amount of time in the classroom. First the instructors show and then the students do. Thanks to a keen interest by the Commonwealth of Virginia and outstanding support from local air conditioning contractors, we boast that the equipment that our students practice their skills on is very up-to-date. Consequently, our AIR students have no difficulty in finding positions with local air conditioning contractors, at competitive wages, even before they graduate.
Goals/Objectives:
- That, that the AIR faculty will make themselves available to the AIR students and prospective AIR students through both scheduled office hours and by appointment to counsel in regard to academic and professional career needs.
- That, the AIR faculty will remain current and up-to-date in the dynamics of the HVACR field.
- That, equipment and instruments for the AIR students will be contemporary.
- That, the AIR faculty will make every effort to advise and assist AIR students to gain employment in the HVACR field to include holding and Annual Job/Tool Fair.
- That, local AIR contractors and utilities will provide input to the NVCC AIR Program both as members of NVCC AIR Advisory Committee and on an individual basis to ensure that the student is fully prepared to enter into the local community workforce in the HVACR field.
