The Biology Department at the Manassas Campus has been rapidly expanding to meet the growing need for General Biology courses, Health Science and Biotechnology. A new building is being constructed that will house three Biology labs and one state-of-the-art Biotechnology lab with an instrument room.

Current course offerings include General Biology, General Zoology, Botany, General Microbiology, Health Science, General Environmental Science, Biotechnology Concepts, Biotechnology Methods, and Biotechnology II: DNA Research. The department recently developed a degree program in Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) and a certificate program in Biotechnology in cooperation with local Biotechnology industry leaders.

We have state-of-the-art Biotechnology instruments that include a LICOR 4300 DNA analyzer, Bio-Rad MiniOpticon Real-Time PCR System, Bio-Rad Gel Documentation System and Bio-Rad I Mark Microplate Reader.
