Travel and Tourism
Tourism is the study of a vast and dynamic group of businesses developed to serve the needs of travelers worldwide. Tourism includes many interrelated industries that are tied together by a common denominator -- the traveling public.
The three broad areas of tourism include:
- Tourism planners and marketers (retail travel agents, tour operators, tourist boards, meeting planners, etc.)
- Tourism services suppliers (transportation, regional tour companies, hotels and restaurants, attractions and entertainment, destination services, etc.)
- Related external fields which also serve the tourist industry (technology, government activities, health services, magazine publishing, etc.)
Students who graduate from one of the certificates usually go directly into the workforce with a vast choice of employment opportunities. Our full-time and adjunct faculty represent expertise across the entire spectrum of the tourist industry, from travel counselors to tour guides to association executives.
