Registration
There are two ways a Military student or their Dependents may register for courses. NovaConnect, or in-person on Campus or at one of the Military Sites. Regardless of how you register, please note the tuition payment due dates on our NovaConnect website.
NOVAConnect:This is the preferred method ot use when registering. It is the most convenient to the student. Please follow the instructions to get your student ID number. Once logged on you can register for courses, look for open courses, or even view and change your personal information. In addition, you can view and print your unofficial transcripts.
WALK-IN/APPOINTMENTYou may go to any of the Admissions Offices at a NOVA Campus to register.
GENERAL REGISTRATION, ADD/DROP AND WITHDRAWAL INFORMATIONPlease register early to avoid disappointment when courses are already full. You must register and pay for your course, workshop, or seminar prior to its starting date and during the Add/Drop period. The courses offered at the Military Sites have some held seats available to the Military. However, these are on a first-come, first-served basis.
After you have registered for courses, you may add/drop as desired up to the last date of the add/drop period. Normally (depending on Semesters and Session, there is an additional period beyond the add/drop period in which a student may change their schedule with tuition refund. Check the current schedule for add/drop and withdrawal periods. It is the STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITY to be aware of these dates and the procedures for adding, dropping and withdrawing from courses. After the add/drop period you may still get out of a course but you will have to withdraw from it.
You can add/drop by simply using NovaConnect. If you add/drop, ensure you inform your Base Education Office of the change. You can only add a course if it is reflected on your degree plan. In addition, if you add a course, you must provide payment for the new course.
If you are withdrawing from a course after the date which you would automatically receive a grade of W, you must do two things. You must complete the NOVA Course Withdrawal Form. You will need the signature of your Professor, assigning you a Grade of W. The second thing you need to do is contact your Base Education Office, and let them know.
If you withdraw after the date which allows for tuition refund, NOVA will bill your Base Education Office for the course. They will charge you the money for the withdrawal, unless you can provide them a valid reason via your Chain of Command.
