Mini-grant Proposals Approved by the Assessment Committee 1999 - 2000
In Spring 2000, the Assessment Committee approved a proposal submitted
by Debbie Naquin (LO) to conduct a series of focused interviews with
faculty to explore differences in perception of technology and
teaching among full-time/adjunct faculty and senior/junior faculty.
It is expected that the data from this project will inform future
surveys of faculty use of technology to enhance student learning.
The committee also approved a second proposal from Ms. Naquin to
survey students taking web-based and traditional ENG 005 courses
to explore differences in students' perceptions of the influence of
technology on their learning. The surveys are to be administered at
the beginning and the end of the semester. Differences between groups
as well as differences over time will be probed. The survey will
include open-ended questions which will be analyzed.
The committee also approved a stipend for Barry Selinger (AL) and
Kathy Wax (AL) in fall 1999 and spring 2000 to administer a COMPASS
pre- and post-test to determine the validity of using this test as
an exit test. The collection of this data will also be correlated
with the Nelson-Denny test results and with portfolio scores.
