Cancellation Policy:

To cancel your appointment for any reason, please call 703.323.4137or stop by the Language Center at least three hours in advance of your appointed time. If no one is available, leave a message so that your call time can be noted. If you do not show up for an appointment without calling beforehand, you will not be able to make another appointment until the following semester.

What can I see a tutor about?

We are able to cover a wide-range of topics during a tutorial. Grammar is one area many students need a little extra help with and is often the focus of many tutorials. However, that is not all we offer. For those students wishing to practice speaking, conversation tutorials are also available as well as reading and vocabulary exercises.

What will the Center not do?

Tutors will not proof read papers or do your homework for you.

What do we expect of you?

We ask that all students arrive on time for their appointments with any questions they may have. Each student may have one 50-minute appointment each week for free. Please be aware that if you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, your tutor may be reassigned to help another student. We usually have more students that need appointments than tutors available, so please try to keep your appointments and be on time. Please note, if you are late to an appointment more than once or do not follow the cancellation policy listed below, you will not be eligible for tutoring again that semester.

What should I bring with me?

We ask that each student come prepared with an idea of which area they wish to cover as well as any work materials you know you will need. While we have some materials at the Center, we may not have the specific book your teacher uses, so please try to bring your books along.
