Juan Carlos (JC) Ortega
Hola, My name is Juan Carlos Ortega (or JC), and I am from Cochabamba Bolivia. I came to the United States eight years ago. After finishing high school, I went to James Madison University to get my bachelors. I graduated from JMU with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Spanish. I love Spanish because it is one of the romance languages, and poetry is one of my passions. I am new at the Language Center, and I invite you to come in and have a talk or sign in for a lesson. If you bring a joke in Spanish, then I will tell you one, as well.
Martha Beyreuther
My name is Martha Beyreuther and I’m from East Germany. I came to America 18 months ago. I was an Au- Pair (Nanny) at first and I was supposed to go back after one year. But I fell so deeply in love with America that I started studying last fall at NOVA. My major is Tourism and Event Management and I’m planning to transfer to a Virginia university. I hope to get to know the few people that are studying German here at NOVA. I’ll see you at the Language Center!
Nina Liu
Hello everyone, my name is Nina. I am from the southern part of China, and I am glad that I can be the Chinese tutor in Language Center this semester. I have been here for almost one year, and I have studied English for more than 16 years. During this time I found out that the main way to learn a new language is to practice as much as you can. Here, in the Language Center you can get a free chance to practice your Chinese. I would be very happy if I could see any of you here. Feel free to come and ask me any questions about Chinese.
Maxi Moon
My name is Maxi. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Because of my Korean heritage, I naturally learned to speak two languages. When I was 16 years old, I moved to America and later graduated from Robinson Secondary School in the year 2010. After high school, I attended James Madison University for a year. Now, I am a full time student at Northern Virginia Community College and am tutoring Spanish at the Language Center. I look forward to meeting you and helping you in any way that I can!
