About the Language Center

The Language Center assists students studying foreign languages at NOVA Annandale by providing them with resources and technology to improve their listening and speaking skills in the language(s) being studied.

Hours

Spring 2012 Semester
Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Saturday* 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Sunday CLOSED

*For the next four Saturdays - February 11, 18, 25 and March 3 - the Language Center will be closed for construction. Students looking for an alternative place to study may go to the Oral Communications Center in CM 363.

Announcements

Welcome to the Language Center! Spring 2012 tutoring will begin on January 16th and will end on April 26th. Come by the Language Center to sign up for an appointment or see the Tutoring Page for more information.

Join us for Conversation Café for Spanish and German. There is no need to sign up. Just stop by any time and join the conversation.

Spanish:
Mondays/Wednesdays: 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.
Thursdays: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

German:
Mondays: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Wednesdays: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Both meet across the hall from the Language Center in CG 405 (The Tutoring Center).

Global Cultural Connections is back and has added Russian and Japanese to the list of languages included. If you are interested in participating in this language partnership program, please pick up a registration form in the Language Center or see the GCC page for more information.


How can we help?

The Language Center offers:

  • Digital sound files that accompany the laboratory manuals or textbooks used in world language classes at the Annandale Campus.
  • Supplemental software programs to support the development of speaking and listening skills in the language being studied.
  • DVDs for student use in the center or at home.
  • Dictionaries and other supplemental texts.
  • Free tutoring for students taking Chinese, Spanish, French, German, and Arabic.
  • Individual or small group study space.
  • Conversation Café and Global Cultural Connections.
