Global Cultural Connections (GCC)

Are you studying a language at NOVA and looking for a chance to practice with a native speaker? OR Are you a native speaker of a language (other than English) that is offered at NOVA Annandale and looking for an opportunity to meet new people, speak your language, and/or practice English? If you answered "yes" to either of those questions then GCC is for you.

What is it? GCC pairs native speakers of Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, & Japanese with non-native speakers enrolled in those classes at the Annandale campus.

Who can participate? Any NOVA student who speaks or is studying one of the above languages.

What do partners do? Partners meet once/week for at least an hour to exchange language/culture. Once you are paired with someone, you and your partner determine the time and place to meet.

How can I get involved? Come to the Language Center to fill out a registration form. Forms must be submitted by September 12th. Students will be paired based on a short questionnaire and will be sent their partner's information via email.

Want more information? Contact Lesley Walton ( lwalton@nvcc.edu ) or visit our website at http://www.nvcc.edu/annandale/lrc/language

*We will do our best to pair each person who registers; however, due to the varying sizes in each language group it may not be possible to accommodate everyone.
