Announcements

Spring 2012 tutoring for ESL students enrolled at the Annandale campus begins on January 9. ESL students are encouraged to make their tutoring appointments at least two days prior to the desired date of tutoring. Individual tutoring is available from Monday to Thursday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Walk-in tutoring (unscheduled tutoring) is also available from Monday to Thursday from 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

The ESL Center boasts of a diverse group of experienced ESL tutors. Our mission is to provide other venues for the learning of English outside the classroom. Over time, ESL students who frequent the Center show significant improvement on their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. However, editing and proofreading of academic papers are not permitted. Lastly, the ESL Center does not conduct weekly workshops during the summer semester.

How Can We Help?

The ESL Center offers:

  • Specialized ESL software to help students improve their listening, speaking, reading, writing and pronunciation skills.
  • One-on-one tutorial services of half an hour per week per student. The ESL Center has a pool of dedicated student tutors who are ready and able to work with a diverse student population.
  • Workshops and Conversation Groups that can give students a chance to practice what they have learned in class. Conversation groups allow students to converse with other students in English about high-interest and relevant topics to students today.
