Research My Topic
Identify the main terms which describe what you need. (See Focusing Your Topic.) These terms will be the key words you use to search the catalog and databases.
Use these key words to find:
- Books or DVDs in the Library Catalog. (Click here to learn how.)
- Articles in the Library's subscription databases:
- Two excellent general databases are ProQuest and Academic Search Complete. Both have a wide range of journals, magazine and newspapers.
- Some databases have specific resources related to literature and literary criticism. Try Literature Resource Center and Literature Criticism Online.
- For an argumentative essay, check out one of our two great databases that deal with current and controversial topics: Issues & Controversies or Opposing Viewpoints.
TIP: Use Journal Finder to locate full text articles available in journals (print, electronic, microfilm) by name or subject area. Click here to learn how.
