Library Liaison Program

The Faculty Liaison Program is in place to facilitate communication between the teaching faculty and the library. A teaching faculty member from each discipline serves as a liaison with a library faculty member to help disseminate library news to the rest of the faculty. Teaching liaisons give input to the library staff on such matters as selection or weeding decisions and periodical purchases or renewals. The liaison alerts the library staff when curriculum changes point to the need for the purchase of supporting library materials. The librarians inform the faculty about library services, collections, policies and programs. They make an effort to include the liaisons in some social functions and librarians occasionally attend some division meetings. The goal is to get information flowing in both directions. (See liaison librarians and department liaisons.)
