INTRODUCTION:
MUS 141  (2 credits)

This course is designed for beginner level piano students. Class studies focus on note reading, rhythmic counting, scale and chord study and performance preparation.

Students are introduced to particular concepts and studies via lectures and demonstrations. Weekly class study guides and individual assignments are given to students based on proficiency levels determined by the instructor. For maximum progress in performance development, students are expected to practice outside of class time on a regular basis.

Music practice rooms and classrooms may be used by enrolled students and appropriate software programs may be suggested to supplement various class studies.

Class Piano I is open to all students and may be used as an elective or to fulfill the Applied Minor instrument requirement for Music Major.

Lecture 1 hour, Laboratory 2 hours.
Total 3 hours per week.
