Registration

If this is the first time that you are registering for an honors class, please see a counselor in CG 211 for approval of your registration. The NOVANET telephone registration system will not accept an initial honors class registration. Once approved, your registration for honors and other classes will be processed. The Fall 2006 registration will commence April 11, 2006. You are encouraged to register early since enrollment in honors classes is limited.

Honors courses and honors option classes are designated in the college schedule with a message indicating that they are special sections. Typical honors classes would include but are not limited to English composition and American literature, history, calculus, math, biology, geology, art history and information systems technology.

Honors courses are typically offered sequentially with part one of a course offered in the fall semester and part two offered in the spring. For example, PSY 201 would be offered in the fall, PSY 202 in the spring. Students who were not eligible for part one of an honors course may become eligible for part two based on the written recommendation of an instructor.

Registration dates, procedures and a listing of all courses are included in the Northern Virginia Community College Schedule of Classes.

  • To check for current semester honors courses offerings and a description of those classes, please consult the current semester Honors Courses.
  • To expand the Honors Program offerings, courses are available as Honors Options. In these sections, the Honors student is enrolled with non-Honors students in a combined class. The instructor integrates the curriculum and the Honors Option student does honors work.
