Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I take an honors course?
If you are a good student who is serious about learning, you should take honors courses.  You will experience a deeper study of the subject and be enriched by joining with other talented students who want to get the most out of their learning.

Does an honors course require more work than a regular section of the same course?
Yes and no. You will not be "loaded up" with more assignments. On the other hand, you may expect that some assignments will be more challenging. You may also expect more class periods devoted to discussion of a greater range of topics rather than review of basics.

How difficult would it be for me to complete the honors core curriculum if I did not take ENG 111 honors?
It will not be at all difficult. The honors core curriculum requires only 18 hours and honors classes are offered in many of the courses needed for completing most programs. If you move into honors ENG 112 after taking regular ENG 111, you could just plan to take an honors literature course the next semester to meet the six credit honors English requirement for the honors core curriculum.

Check with a counselor in CG 211 for honors course eligibility. NOVANET registration will not recognize your honors registration unless you have been previously approved by your instructor. If there are any problems with your honors course registration, please do not hesitate to go to CG 211, the Counseling Center, for resolution of your problem any time during the Fall 2006 registration period.
