Expectations from Your Supervisor

Arrive to work on time
Dress professionally
Show respect to everyone in your office environment (i.e., do not use language that is abusive or discriminates toward anyone's gender, race, religion or sexual orientation).
Complete tasks that you are assigned in a timely manner
Ask questions when you don't understand instructions or projects assigned to you.
Do not attend to personal matters (personal phone calls or visits with friends) while you are at work.

Expectations from the Faculty Member who Oversees Your Co-op

Be a pro-active learner who determines the knowledge and skills you need to develop, and seeks the resources necessary to solve problems and expand your knowledge base.
Observes and notes the relationship between the "big picture" of your company (its goals, objectives, successes, and challenges) and the "details" of your daily tasks.
Manage your time responsibly.
Contact the faculty member with any questions you might have as you complete the assignments rather than wait till the end of the semester when all of your assignments are due.
Continuously work on your course assignments throughout the semester rather than wait till the last minute.
Submit your assignments on time

The Internship's Expectations

Make a list of expectations or learning objectives before you begin your internship. This list should include, but not be limited to:

- What is the purpose of the internship?
- What specific objectives do you want to achieve or specifically what do you want to have learned at the
  completion of your internship?

Look for the relationship between theories taught in your courses and what you are learning at your internship.
Become accustomed to working on your own and becoming responsible for your learning.
