Non-NOVA Students must meet the following requirements if they want to enroll in co-op: |

Students
can only obtain credit for an internship if they meet the co-op
requirements outlined on this page and register for a co-op course
during one of NOVAs sixteen or eight week sessions in the
fall and spring semesters or they enroll in a twelve or six week
session during the summer. |

Students
can earn a maximum of ten credits in co-op. Students who are anything
other than U.S. citizens or permanent residents may register for
a maximum of 10 credits of co-op. |

Non-NOVA Students must be in good academic standing at the college where they are currently enrolled; have graduated from college or have been in good academic standing when they were enrolled. They must have completed 15 college credits; 6 credits in their major; have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. Students who have been suspended from their college will be ineligible to participate in co-op through NOVA. |

Students who are anything other than U.S. citizens or permanent residents must have been enrolled at NOVA or at a college or university in the United States for 9 months, have completed 15 college credits, 6 credits in the area of the internship; have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 and be matriculated in an NOVA degree or certificate program |

NOVA Students must meet the following requirements if they want to enroll in co-op: |

Students
who are permanent residents or U.S. citizens must have completed
15 college credits, 6 credits in their major, have earned a cumulative
GPA of 2.0; be matriculated in a college degree or certificate
program. The Business and Public Services Division at NOVA- Annandale
requires that their students have a cumulative GPA of a 2.5 and
the Information Systems Technology department at Annandale requires
that students have a 2.0 cumulative GPA in their IST courses. These
are minimum requirements that students must meet to be enrolled
in co-op through NOVA. Keep in mind that employers may have additional
requirements, such as higher G.P.As, and particular courses that
students must have completed. Students need to check the requirements
set by each employer. |

Students who are anything other than U.S. citizens or permanent residents must have been lawfully enrolled at NOVA and/or at a college or university in the United States for one full academic year, have completed 15 college credits, have 6 credits in the area of their internship, be matriculated in an NOVA degree or certificate program and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 at NOVA. |

Students
who are on academic probation or have been suspended from NOVA
or another college are ineligible to participate in co-op. |

Students
are also strongly encouraged to enroll in SDV 106 Preparation for
Employment. This course addresses many of the challenges students
will face in their search for internships, such as: resume writing,
preparation of applications and cover letters, and how to successfully
complete an interview, how to identify their marketable skills
and attitudes, and how to design strategies for a successful employment
search. |

Students
are also strongly encouraged to have completed ENG 111 and ENG
112 so that they will have developed good written and communication
skills. |
