Students Navigating NOVA Through Advising And Planning Sessions (SNNAP)

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, welcome to Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Annandale Campus. The Student Services professionals, faculty and staff would like to congratulate you on your decision to pursue your education at NOVA. We are excited to offer all first time college students the SNNAP advising and planning sessions to assist with finding direction and success at NOVA!

  • We highly recommend that you sign-up for a SNNAP session if you:
    • Are a first time college student
    • Have completed the NOVA admissions application
    • Have taken the English/ESL and Math Placement Test

  • The SNNAP sessions will cover the following:
    • Interpretation of placement test scores
    • Instruction on the utilization of the Class Schedule and College Catalog
    • Instruction on the scheduling of classes and registration
    • Instruction on how to access and use NOVA Connect
    • Importance of taking College Success Skills (SDV 100) courses
    • Declaring an academic major
    • Faculty advising
    • Where to go to get assistance with: Transfer Planning, Career Counseling, Disability Support Services, Personal Counseling, Retention Counseling, Veterans Counseling, and Financial Aid
    • Campus resources available to students

  • Instructions on how to register for a SNNAP session:
    • After receiving your Placement Test results, please report to the Counseling Center Front Desk (CG-211) to sign up for a session.
    • You will receive an admissions ticket indicating the date, time, and location of your session. Please bring this ticket with you on your scheduled date.
    • Please Note: If you are unable to attend your scheduled session, please contact the Counseling Center Front Desk at (703) 323-3200 to reschedule.
