Service Learning
Service learning also referred to as “Community Connections” is a program of the Office of Student Activities, which provides a variety of volunteer and community service opportunities. Students’ participation in community service activities can be a valuable and rewarding learning experience. Not only do they have the opportunity to assist others in need, but students have the chance to learn about themselves in the process. Participating in community service projects is a great way to make friends, learn about others, relieve stress and increase career interest and marketability.
- As a condition of requirement for recognized student organizations and to maintain active status, all recognized student organizations are required to participate in at least 40 hours of community service learning.
- The Office of Student Activities is a resource center for the NOVA Community and students to locate contact information on local volunteer organizations throughout the surrounding Northern Virginia Area.
