Alumni Federation President's Welcome

Dear Fellow Alumni and Friends:

Kati MoleIt is my privilege to serve as president of the NOVA Alumni Federation Board of Governors for the 2006-2007 academic year. After many years of serving on the Board in various positions, I am looking forward to having the opportunity to lead a remarkable group of volunteers to assist the college in achieving its objectives. The Board is a group of volunteers fueled with talent, knowledge and experience.

The Alumni Federation has a number of long standing events that continue to enrich the experience of the NOVA students and faculty.

The Faculty of the Year Reception provides an occasion to publicly recognize faculty members who have demonstrated excellent teaching skills. This event allows students the opportunity to recognize faculty members that have had a significant impact on their education and life. The Alumni Federation is very pleased to be able to continue to host this event

The Scholarship fund awards up to five scholarships each year. The scholarships are awarded on a balanced scale that considers financial need, desire to start or continue their education and other factors. The Alumni Federation also hosts bus trips to Atlantic City and a “College Night” at a local restaurant to raise funds for the scholarship.

Additionally, the Alumni Federation participates in the Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges reception and the annual Educational Foundation phonathon and golf tournament.

My hope is that over the next year the Alumni Federation will increase its membership and add additional activities for fundraising and enrichment.

NOVA Community College plays an important role in higher education in the Northern Virginia area. It provides a supportive environment that encourages continuing education throughout life. The Alumni Federation Board offers past and present students of NOVA an opportunity to support and give back to an institution that stands as a shining example of higher education. We invite you to join the Federation and add your talents to assisting the college in achieving its goals. You may contact the Alumni Federation office at 703.323.3749 or by email at bidle@nvcc.edu.
