Keyboard
Dr. Barbara Ryland Wells, Professor of Music and Program Head for Music, administers the keyboard program and teaches Composition, Theory, Jazz Theory, and Counterpoint.  She received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland.

Instrumental
Dr. Robert Petrella, Professor of Music, founded and directs the Alexandria Campus Band, administers the instrumental program, and teaches courses in Music Appreciation, Music History, Basic Musicianship, and Class Piano.  He received the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland.

Vocal
Dr. Mark A. Whitmire, Professor of Music, directs the NOVA Community Chorus, administers the vocal program, and teaches courses in Class Voice, Vocal Repertoire, Guitar Theory and Practice, Class Piano, and Basic Musicianship.  He received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland.
