212 Assignment 1

• Guided Music Theory, Book 4 , by Barbara Ryland Wells
• Advanced Ear Training by Barbara Ryland (If you already have this book, you do not need to purchase another)
• Ear Training CDs
  Advanced Rhythmic Dictation - ARD
  Advanced Melodic Dictation - AMD
  Advanced Harmonic Dictation - AHD
• Sight-Singing and Keyboard Harmony to accompany 111 through 212, (If you already have this book, you do not need to purchase another, but you must have the August, 2006 version paginated from pp. 1-76) )
• 2 inch three-ring binder
• Staff paper
• 5 three-ring tab dividers
• 4 by 6 spiral bound index cards. You will be given a new set. You may add these cards to your existing index cards if you have additional pages.

2. Set up binder:

Label tabs as listed below:

• Text
• Melodic Dictation
• Harmonic Dictation
• Rhythmic Dictation
• Sight-Singing Intervals
• Sight-Singing
• KB FB (Keyboard Harmony- Figured Bass)
• KB MH (KB Melodic Harmonization)
• KB Pop

Transfer the Guided Music Theory book chapters into the labeled tab dividers.
Transfer the 211 Ear Training sections into the 212 binder.
Transfer the KB Harmony to the 212 binder.

3. Complete Review Sheet No. 1

4. Bring in 2-3 pieces for consideration for Final Project. The form must be one covered this semester.
