Counseling Services

Counselors are available to work with students by appointment or on a walk-in basis in the Counseling Office, next to the Library. In addition, free workshops on college success skills are offered both during the day and evening. Workshops include Study Skills, Time Management, Test-Taking Strategies, and Stress Management.

Language Center

The Language Center is the place to find drill and practice materials in Arabic,Classics, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish.There are word processing programs in Spanish and French, software to practice writing in Chinese and Japanese and many other software applications to choose from. Need help with your instructor's Blackboard course? Our student tech assistant can help you. Want to practice pronunciation and word and sentence dictation? Try the Language Now series. Ask your instructor for tips on how you can best use your time at the Language Center.

Math Lab

The Alexandria Campus has free tutoring available for math students at any level. No appointments are necessary; students may drop-by the lab and ask for help. When peer tutors are not available, the instructor on duty will help, although students enrolled in the lab courses have first priority.

Tutorial Services

Tutorial Services of the Alexandria Campus is a free peer tutorial program. Peer tutors are available to assist students in overcoming academic difficulties and are available in most subjects. Tutors are available by appointment only to students enrolled in NVCC classes, which meet on the Alexandria Campus. Students are eligible for one hour of tutoring per week in two subject area.

Writing Assistance Center

Free writing help is available in the Writing Assistance Center. Tutors can help with writing assignments for any class you're taking at NVCC-Alexandria. Appointments and walk-ins are accepted.
