Jump Start Training Course

2008
Fall Registration starts August 6, 2008. WALK-IN during office hours .
Please make sure that you have an EMPLID.

  • If you have ever wondered what it would be like to ride a motorcycle.....
  • If you are signed up to take the Basic RiderCourse (R) (BRC) and want to get a head start on your learning.....
  • If you attempted a BRC but were overwhelmed with the initial riding experience.......

.............then Jump Start is for you!

The Jump Start class is designed for those who have never ridden a motorcycle. It also serves as remedial training for those who have attempted a BRC. This class provides more time to for those initial riding experiences (e.g. learning the "friction zone") that are more challenging for some of us.

Because the Jump Start class does not substitute for the BRC and no completion card is issued, there is no pressure on you to “pass”.  Come experience the fun!!

Course Objectives

In the Jump Start class, you will learn:

  • Operation and functions of basic motorcycle controls
  • Starting and stopping a motorcycle
  • Operating a motorcycle in a straight line at slow speeds
  • Clutch and throttle coordination
  • Shifting gears
