HOW TO ACCESS FT. MYER

 

ATTENTION; NVCC Instructors and Students

 

If you regularly teach NVCC courses at Ft. Myer, or you are a student taking courses at Ft. Myer, you may choose to register your vehicle with the installations Directorate of Public Safety(DPS)/Provost Marshal's office and get a temporary pass, which will enable you to get through the gates and onto the post more quickly and easily. (Note it may not stop the occasional inspection)

 

Post Pass/Vehicle Pass procedures:

 

1.  The sample letter found at the bottom of this page is required for issue of this pass.  The Directorate of Public Safety near the Hatfield gate will be the issuing agency.

2. Please complete the below letter and return it to the Military Site Office (MSO).  You can email it to DDARLEY@NVCC.EDU or FAX it to the MSO (703) 696-0145.  The MSO will get the letter signed by the Director of Base Education and contact you once signed.  Therefore, please ensure the MSO has a current phone number or better yet a good email address for you.   Please note, the DPS will accept only faxed copies of  the application sent via Base Education.  Therefore, once notified we have the signed letter, you need to do the following. 

  • Call the MSO at (703) 527-5976 or email a representative before going to DPS.  You want to do this to ensure, a NVCC representative is in the Office and they have your completed signed application. 
  • The day you wish to come by the DPS please call the MSO.  They will fax your signed letter over to the office of DPS. They wll fax the ltr to DPS 703 696-3426, alt fax 703 696 3192.
  • It is also suggested you call the Public Safety Office before going over, to ensure, they are open, and their computer is up.  It is recommend you arrive no later than 4:00pm. Their primary phone number is 703 696-8968.

  • Before coming to class check out the MSO Class Schedule or call the MSO for building and room assignments.

3. The Directorate of Public Safety/Military Police building 415 near the Base Gas Station. Hours of  operation for the DPS are 0900-1700 M-F. Directions to are as follows:   After you get through the Hatfield Gate, turn left Sheridan Avenue.  This is where your Vehicle is inspected. After you complete the inspection look for Building 415 or your left.  The Department of Public Safety shares a building with the Military Police. Park in the parking lot on the right side of the building.  Go through the center door, the pass office is on your left. 

 

4. When you go to the DPS office, In addition to this letter you will need to bring with you, the following:  

    1. State vehicle registration

    2. Driver's license with Photo

    3. Proof of insurance
