Drive Mapping Instructions

These generic instructions are for PC/Windows users, only, and can be used for XP, Vista and Windows 7.  If you want to connect to your respective personal and/or division folders from home or while traveling, then you first must be connected to the college's network via Cisco VPN (if you are away from the campus).  Click here for those instructions:  https://www.nvcc.edu/remoteaccess  You will be prompted to login.

NOTE THAT YOU CAN ALSO USE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FROM YOUR WORK COMPUTER WHILE ON CAMPUS (PC/WINDOWS ONLY).  SO, IN THIS CASE YOU DO NOT NEED TO CONNECT REMOTELY VIA CISCO VPN.

For connecting to your personal “H: Drive” folder:

Open My Computer for XP users; open Computer for Vista or 7 users
Click on Tools and then Map Network Drive for XP users; click on Map Network Drive for Vista and 7 users
Click on the down arrow next to Drive and then select H:
In the folder field, type in \\NVCC-ALFS01\<username>, where <username> is the same as you use at work
Make sure that the Reconnect at Logon is selected and then click Finish

To connect to your office folder (aka division folder), repeat the steps above and then at step 3, select G:.   For step 4, type in \\NVCC-ALFS01\<division folder>. Please consult the list below to type in the correct division folder name. Step 5 remains the same.

The division folder names are:

ALPRO             Provost Office

ALBDV             Business Division

ALHSS             Humanities Division

ALSAT             Science Division

ALBUS             Business Office

ALVPA             Visual and Performing Arts Division

ALLRS             Learning Resources

ALCNS             Counseling

ALCEU             Continuing Education

ALPOL             Campus Police

ALFACILITY     Facilities

ALSTD             Student Services


Repeat the steps above to connect to your web folder. In step 3 select W: and then in step 4 type in \\NOVAWEB\HOME\<username>
