Our Mission

To enhance the teaching of writing and reading through a networked computer lab in a classroom setting supported by the LRS.

To provide open time during which students may use the Writing Center on an individual basis.
General Information
Writing and reading classes are scheduled daily in the labs. Individual students have access to Microsoft Word for word processing when classes are not in session. Workshops are held periodically to introduce classes or individual students to the software.

Equipment and Software
26 networked Dell GX280 Pentium 4 PC's (2.8Ghz, 512MB of RAM); one HP Laser Jet 8150 network printer.
SANAKO, a video control system, is used to enhance teaching methods.
Windows XP , Microsoft Word and Powerpoint , and Internet access for classroom research only; Bedford Online Handbook; Focus on Grammar; Ultimate Speed Reader; and Inspiration 8 .
Word Processing
The Writing Center and Reading Lab have 26 computers each that are equipped with Microsoft Word 2007. Internet access is available for classroom research.
Note: Only the Writing Center is available for Open Lab.
Restrictions for use of the Writing Center are:

You should be familiar with Microsoft Word or ask for a demonstration if you do not.

You must provide your own 3.5 inch, IBM formatted floppy disk or flash stick.

No food, drinks, or children are permitted in the center..

Keep in mind that classes always have priority over individual students.
